About Robin Johnson
I won a position as a gardener-in-charge of the grounds of the Old Parliament House in Canberra. As gardeners, we were responsible for pruning roses, planting annual displays, lawn care maintenance, mowing and top dressing all the lawns, in Canberra’s national area.
In the mid 1980’s I was landscaping private gardens, and teaching Garden Design through the adult Education system.
1995 I began an Adult Education degree at Canberra University, I graduated with a diploma in 2000.
After a significant work injury in 2004, I retired, and in 2005, I began and self -published my first book Garden Design for Everyone.
My second book Your Sustainable Garden followed in 2007.
I wanted to know the origins of organic food that have been labelled ‘organically grown’ seen in our modern supermarkets. I wanted to write a story from a gardener’s perspective – this idea finally brought together organic growing across social history. In 2022 The Gardener Through History” was written and published by Inspiring Publishers, Calwell.
I am currently writing Garden Design for Everyone Volume 2.
I am responsible for maintaining 6 domestic gardens in Leura and Blackheath.
